Architectures of Shade

The increasingly scorching climate demands new strategies for creating shade. In Mediterranean architecture, the themes of sun protection and spontaneous, rural construction have always been in dialogue. The workshop aims to explore this heritage of solutions through the design and construction of foldable and openable structures, conceived to offer shelter from the sun, straddling the line between a roof, a portable accessory, and a wearable device. An exercise on minimal space, the body, and the relationship between climate and design.
